Analysts

Analysts in Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Madrid, Milan, Rome and Stockholm are generally first degree candidates with an economics background and excellent academic or previous successful relevant work experience. Analysts also have a passion for business and a genuine interest in the investment banking sector. Your primary purpose is to support transaction teams by performing financial and statistical analysis, conducting research, preparing client presentations and assisting in due diligence efforts.

Potential Analysts within the Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Madrid, Milan, Rome and Stockholm offices need to display the following qualities:

  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • High academic achievement
  • Strong personality
  • Energy and enthusiasm
  • Individuality
  • A disciplined approach
  • Intellectual agility
  • Innovative thinking
  • Analytical thought process
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Commercial acumen
  • Ability to get on within a team

You will be assigned to different specialist or generalist teams. In your second year, your work will be more project-driven, allowing you to build upon the broad exposure you will have gained in your first year. Unlike many of our competitors, Lazard's unique structure provides Analysts with exposure to senior bankers and client representatives from day one.

Training and Development

As our clients expect a lot from us, we must ask a lot from you. We want you to succeed and have therefore designed an extensive training program which will provide you with a sound understanding of the technical aspects of your role.

The initial program, attended by new colleagues from across Europe, includes carefully designed residential courses, master classes led by practicing bankers, on-the-job coaching by team colleagues and visits to our other European offices.

As your career progresses-at least once a year and as part of our performance appraisal process, we will discuss your training and development needs with you. We may agree on a number of actions which could include attending technical, personal-management and business skills programs which we have designed. Again, these programs will be attended by colleagues from across Europe.

In addition to attending courses, you will be expected to keep up-to-date with regulatory and market developments while taking every opportunity to learn from more experienced team members on each assignment. We owe that commitment to our clients.

Internships

Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Madrid, Milan, Rome and Stockholm occasionally offer internships to undergraduates. An internship with Lazard is an excellent way of gaining a better understanding of the nature and culture of our business. It will allow you to experience the Analyst role whilst seeing colleagues operate at every level in our business. An internship can lead to an offer of a position with Lazard in the following year's Analyst program.
